Join industry experts at Montgomery Community Media for a fun, content creation filled summer! Students ages 12-17 can register for different sessions at our Rockville studio. You don't want to miss this!

Lights, Camera, Action: Media Production Basics (2 week session)

July 3 · 10am - July 14 · 3pm EDT

Do you want to work in a media related field? Dream of reporting or interviewing guests on camera? MCM can help! Rising 7th through 9th and 10th through 12th grade students will work together will work together to learn everything they need to get started in media production, in front of and behind the camera. The first week in this two week session will focus on principles, techniques, writing and planning while the second week will be all about bringing their vision to life! You will be able to arrange interviews or create a field report, supervised by media industry experts. Projects could potentially air on public access television.

Ready, Set, Shoot: Intro to Video Production (1 week session)

July 17 · 9am - July 21 · 3pm EDT

This summer camp is a MUST for budding videographers and teens who enjoy working behind the scenes! Rising 7th through 9th and 10th through 12th grade teens will work together and learn how to create professional looking media projects - we will explore composition, lighting, movement, color and sound. This camp is great not only for those who want help with their own projects, but also for any students interested in a career (or internship) in the media and video production field. Students will be guided by media industry experts and projects could potentially air on public access television.

Video Editing 101: Putting It All Together (2 week session)

July 31 · 9am - August 11 · 2pm EDT

If your student has ever created a video but needed help with the complicated editing process, this is the camp for them! RRising 7th through 9th and 10th through 12th grade teens will learn from industry professionals and create professional looking videos ready to post online. Campers will be taught and supervised by media industry experts and our education staff. Projects could potentially air on public access television. Note: students should come with their own projects or will be provided with raw MCM footage to edit.
