Montgomery Community Media, Silver Spring Media Lab

Montgomery Community Media (MCM) is an independent, nonprofit organization committed to delivering public media directly to the residents of Montgomery County. MCM plays a pivotal role as the county’s official community media center by producing and broadcasting local news, educational programming, and public access television content. The organization operates several cable channels—such as Access 19 and Montgomery Channel 21—as well as maintaining a strong online presence across social media platforms, thereby ensuring that local voices and community stories reach a broad audience.

In addition to its role as a content provider, MCM offers media training and production services to nonprofit organizations, civic groups, and individuals, fostering creative expression and encouraging civic engagement. By facilitating access to professional quality media resources, Montgomery Community Media empowers residents to both contribute to and benefit from a vibrant, informed public discourse that reflects the diverse experiences and perspectives of the community.
