DC'S HEARTBEAT - By Jordana Rubenstein-Edberg
Feature Documentary: The film is in the final rough cut stage and the filmmaker is seeking constructive feedback to finalize the film.
ABOUT THE FILM DC'S HEARTBEAT (working title)
DC’s Heartbeat explores what it means to create an accessible art space in Washington DC. Through the story of the Carter Barron Amphitheater, a 4,000 seat performance space in Rock Creek Park, the film explores how the city's immense development in recent decades is impacting DC’s unique art and music scene; notably, the increasing challenges for artists and long time residents of color, to live and work in this city.
ABOUT WORK IN PROGRESS SCREENINGS
Docs In Progress has helped more than 175 documentaries by hosting Work-in-Progress screenings where filmmakers share their nearly finished documentaries with a general audience and receive useful feedback to complete their films.
At the event, a facilitator from Docs In Progress leads a workshop-style feedback session. Here, the audience plays a crucial role by offering constructive input on various aspects of the unfinished documentaries, such as story progression, structure, and character/topic development. This feedback is instrumental in guiding filmmakers through their creative process as they work towards completing their films.
We value feedback from both fellow filmmakers and subject matter experts at these screenings. However, we equally prioritize input from everyday individuals, as most filmmakers aim to create films for a broad audience.
