About this Event
WHAT IS SCREENING?

We will be screening and workshopping an 82-minute rough cut of A Run for More, directed by Ray Whitehouse.

ABOUT THE FILM

The documentary follows veteran campaign volunteer Frankie Gonzalez-Wolfe as she pushes through self-doubt, fear of violence and the trauma of sexual assault to run for public office, attempting to become the first openly transgender elected official in Texas. With intimate verite footage shot over three years, the film traces Frankie’s journey from volunteer in 2016 to city council candidate in 2019.

HOW IT WORKS?

Docs In Progress has workshopped more than 175 documentaries through our rough cut Work-in-Progress screenings, where filmmakers share a not-quite finished version of their documentary to a general audience. Following the screening, a facilitator from Docs In Progress leads a workshop-style feedback session where the audience provides constructive feedback on the story structure and character development of these not-quite finished documentaries. This can be essential to help filmmakers move forward with creative blocks or to get a reality check on how their story is flowing or characters are coming across. While we welcome and treasure feedback from other filmmakers or topic experts at these screenings, we are equally interested in hearing from laypeople since most filmmakers are making films for a general audience.
