"Three days of peace, music... and love." This epic documentation of the 1969 watershed countercultural concert event required no less than seven editors to craft, among them a young Martin Scorsese and Thelma Schoonmaker. Schoonmaker earned the first of her many Academy Award® nominations for her work on this documentary, which was among three overall nominations for the film, along with Best Sound and a win for Best Documentary Feature. The resulting film features performances by Crosby, Stills & Nash; Janis Joplin; Jimi Hendrix; Joan Baez; Santana; Sly and the Family Stone; The Who and more.
