Up 2 Us Foundation – a 501(c)3 organization that provides free food to low-income, food insecure, and vulnerable children, adults, and seniors to fight hunger in the Montgomery County region – will host its Up 2 Us Inaugural Gala on Sunday, April 24, 2022 between 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the Silver Spring Civic Center (located at 1 Veterans Pl, Silver Spring, MD 20910).

The fundraiser event will feature a healthy cooking demonstration with renowned, innovative, and celebrated DC-based Chef Erik Bruner-Yang and special performances by singer, actor and performer Joe Coleman – a former member of The Platters. Congressman Jamie Raskin (MD-District 8) and Montgomery County Councilmember Evan Glass (At-Large) will also provide remarks. Attendees will have the opportunity to learn more about the foundation’s accomplishments and the food insecurity needs in the Montgomery County region. The program will also feature a silent auction.

The inaugural event is made possible with generous donations from Giant Foods, Inc., Capital Hill Consulting Group (CHCG), Amerigroup, St. Matthew Presbyterian Church USA, Senior Leadership Montgomery Class of 2020, Fitzgerald Auto Mall Wheaton and Marx and Lieberman, PLLC.

Up 2 Us Foundation primarily serves residents in Wheaton, Silver Spring, Gaithersburg, Germantown and Rockville. Through its food bank, located at the Wheaton Westfield Mall, the foundation operates programs that include pickup and delivery, drive-through distributions, and directly providing food boxes and meals for students of Montgomery County Public Schools and Montgomery College. Additionally, Up 2 Us Foundation recently launched its Afghan Refugee Project, a partnership effort with local ethnic grocery stores, to provide culturally relevant food to Afghan refugees.
