Join us for our next SPARKLE The Role of Spirituals in the African American Struggle for Freedom with Dr. Anne Woodley Brown Wednesday, February 10th at 2pm.
About Our Presenter
Dr. Anne Woodley Brown is a retired professor from Howard University School of Social Work. A lifelong member of choirs since her childhood in Louisiana, she is currently a member of the Episcopal Church of the Ascension's choir. She considers spirituals the soundtrack of her life and she is pleased to share a lecture and musical presentation on the role of spirituals in the African American struggle for freedom.
Presented by SSTCi in collaboration with the Silver Spring Village, the SPARKLE Program is a monthly community outreach series in the Silver Spring Civic Building that enriches the lives of seniors in our area. SPARKLE stands for Senior Programs Aimed at Re-Kindling Lifetime Engagement. *Events are now held virtually at this time.
