From April 1 through 18, AFI, afrikafé and Africa World Now Project present the 17th annual New African Film Festival, showcasing the vibrancy of African filmmaking from all corners of the continent and across the diaspora. This year, the festival is going virtual, presenting a lineup of outstanding contemporary African cinema online for audiences in the Washington, DC, area and beyond.

Opening with Lesotho filmmaker Lemohang Jeremiah Mosese's multi-award-winning drama THIS IS NOT A BURIAL, IT'S A RESURRECTION, this year's festival features 33 films from 26 countries, including six submissions for the Academy Award® for Best International Feature. The festival closes with a new 2K restoration of Tunisian director Férid Boughedir's landmark survey of African cinema, CAMÉRA D'AFRIQUE. Nearly all films are available to view online across the entire United States.
