Clothed Minds is a documentary highlighting the effects of school dress code policies on Black girls in the Washington DC school system. Based on the report 'Dress Coded: Black Girls, Bodies and Bias in DC Schools' from the National Women’s Law Center. Clothed Minds seeks to explore the disproportionate impact of enforcing dress codes on Black girls. Clothed Minds brings together perspectives from psychologists, local community activists, the founders of the initial study and students at DC public schools who have been directly impacted by dress code policies. We seek to spark action for schools to review, revise, and rewrite these policies with the help of Black girls.

This is the 12th year of the Community Stories Film Festival presented by Docs In Progress. The festival focuses on local documentaries made by local filmmakers from MD, DC, and Northern Virginia.

Our 2022 edition will be held virtually with live Q&As on March 11-13. You can start watching all films for free on Tuesday, March 8!
