AFI Silver is excited to host the 16th-annual Capital Irish Film Festival (CIFF), co-presented with Solas Nua. Celebrating Irish identity, culture and artistry, CIFF's lineup brings the best in contemporary Irish cinema to the Washington, DC, area. This year's diverse slate of films includes 15 features, plus two shorts programs and a special screening of the inaugural Norman Houston Short Film Award winner, AN IRISH GOODBYE. The festival opens with black comedy REDEMPTION OF A ROGUE, winner of Best Feature and Best Debut Irish Feature prizes at the 2020 Galway Film Fleadh, and features a closing night screening of music documentrary WHERE'S THE CRAIC?, featuring a post-screening Q&A with filmmaker Lauren Hakulinen. Other highlights include acclaimed Irish-language drama FOSCADH, Ireland's 2021 Oscar® submission; a new documentary about Northern Irish singer-songwriter Ryan McMullan (who was discovered at a Foy Vance concert right here in DC); Leonard Cohen-inspired romance DEATH OF A LADIES' MAN, starring Irish multihyphenate Gabriel Byrne; and acclaimed Toronto-debuted horror film YOU ARE NOT MY MOTHER.
(CIFF All-Access Pass: The CIFF Pass grants you admission for one to every film in the Capital Irish Film Festival, including Opening Night.)
